SFX College Football Coaching Overview
All of our children’s football sessions begin with some warm-up activities that prepare the children for the coaching session. The drills focus on developing the core skills needed to play football. Developing ball skills is crucial and the drills focus on all key aspects of this such as dribbling, passing, shooting, turning, running with the ball and heading. We also focus on developing understanding of the game and encourage the children to think about their positions, where the ball will travel to and to identify passing opportunities. All of the children have their own football during drills to ensure that they maximise their time.
After the drills the children are placed into teams of similar ability in order to play a series of small-sided games. The games are kept small to ensure that all of the children have the opportunity to participate and apply the skills that they have been learning. While the weather is good and nights are light we use the facilities located in the MUGA, an outdoor covered pitch at the school. During the winter months we use the facilities that are available to us inside SFX College.
